Ranveer Singh, Kriti Sanon Celebrate Kashi’s Textile Tradition In Manish Malhotra Couture – News18

Ranveer Singh and Kriti Sanon recently stole the spotlight as they graced a fashion show organised in Varanasi on Sunday. Hosted by Manish Malhotra, the event took place against the backdrop of the magnificent Namo Ghat in the city. Embracing the theme ‘Benarasi Saree: A tapestry of Indian Culture & Craftsmen,’ the event aimed at highlighting the rich heritage of Varanasi’s intricate handicrafts, handlooms, with a special focus on the iconic Banarasi weaves.

Ranveer and Kriti graced the ramp as showtoppers, adorned in stunning Banarasi silk outfits. Kriti looked resplendent in a regal red Banarasi silk lehenga, while Ranveer exuded elegance with deep purple Banarasi Shikargah sherwani.

Kriti’s red silk lehenga featured a half-length blouse intricately donned with gold brocade embroidery all over. It boasted a round neckline and waist-length hem with intricately printed gold patterns adorning the borders. Her A-line silhouette lehenga featured bronze-gold embroidery borders perfectly harmonising the ethnic charm. She draped her dupatta like a veil, featuring beautiful gold motifs, enhancing the overall traditional charm of the attire.

Her accessories were nothing short of ethereal beauty, as she donned gold metal bangles with white gajras as Kaleeras, a gold maang tikka and dangling earrings.

In terms of makeup, she opted for a mesmerising look with a smokey eyeshadow, softly smudged kohl-rimmed eyes, voluminous mascara-laden eyelashes, and darkened brows. Her cheekbones were expertly contoured, enhanced with a luminous highlighter and a glossy lipshade for a radiant glow. She completed the traditional look with finesse by wearing a red bindi.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh’s ensemble showcased a Banarasi Shikargah sherwani, boasting a deep purple coloured silk kurta paired with dhoti pants. Layered over this ethnic attire was a striking Banarasi silk gold bandhgala jacket. The jacket, adorned with brocade embroidery, featured full-length sleeves, side slits, front button closures, and padded shoulders. He draped a dupatta adorned with intricate patterns, seamlessly complementing the rich elegance of the sherwani. He finished off the look with his signature rugged beard enhanced with a perfectly backswept hairdo.

Ahead of the fashion show, Ranveer and Kriti were spotted offering prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, accompanied by Manish Malhotra. Ranveer donned a light pink kurta with pyjamas while Kriti looked radiant in a traditional golden yellow salwar kameez.

Talking to ANI about his visit to Varanasi, Ranveer said, “I cannot express in words the experience that I have had today. Lifelong, I have been a devotee of Lord Shiva and I have come here for the first time. Next time, I want to come here along with my mother.”

Kriti expressed, “I came here ten years ago for an ad shoot but had no time. However, this time, I got the opportunity to go to the Kashi Vishwanath temple. I feel blessed. There is a vibration and energy in the city.”
