Dutta wished to meet Rahul Gandhi and seek justice for against her suspension from the party after she accused the organisation’s national president of harrasment

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s first day of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Assam which started at around 10 am on Thursday met an unexpected situation when it reached the Assam-Nagaland border in Sivsagar District.

Former Assam Youth Congress President Ankita Dutta and her supporters staged a sit-in demonstration at Amguri, a place through which Gandhi’s rally had crossed. Dutta wished to meet Rahul Gandhi and seek justice for against her suspension from the party after she accused the organisation’s national president of harrasment.

An hour before Gandhi reached Assam, Ankita Dutta took to her X account writing, “Waiting to speak to our beloved leader @RahulGandhi Ji and seek nyay.”  However, despite her efforts she did not get permission to meet the Congress leader.

On not being able to meet Gandhi, Dutta broke down in front of the media and said, “I have nothing to say now, I am here for my respect and dignity. I expected that Rahulji will give me justice. Today, I will not say anything about this denial.”

Unable to hold back her tears she blamed state level leaders for what the situation. She said that APCC president Bhupen Bora, Opposition leader Debabrat Saikia were aware about her today’s programme and alleged that they intentionally deprived her from meeting Rahul Gandhi.

She further said, “I have been posting in X since morning. Doesn’t Bhupen Bora, Debabrat Saikia  know about this? What wrong have I done! If someone misbehaves with me, insults me, tortures me, shouldn’t I seek justice for this. Should not I approach the court of law!”

“Finally Rahul Gandhi’s  rally was supposed to stop at Amguri for a meeting but it did not ….and eventually moved on to the next destination,” she added.

Once the chairperson of Assam Pradesh Youth Congress and one of the most vocal leaders of Assam Congress, Dutta was also a companion of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra at Kashmir.

Ankita Dutta, daughter of former Assam Pradesh Congress Committee Late Anjan Dutta was expelled from Congress for six years, last year on April 21 after she filed a complaint with the police against the organisation’s national president Srinivas B V, accusing him of harassment and manhandling.
