Britain’s Prince William and Princess Kate on Monday unveiled a previously unreleased portrait from their nuptials, in commemoration of their 13th wedding anniversary.

The photograph, captured by photographer Millie Pilkington, resurfaced amid a challenging period as the princess battles undisclosed cancer, undergoing chemotherapy, the Daily Mail newspaper reported.

Despite the private struggle over health issue of Kate, the royal couple shared the intimate moment from their wedding day, evoking warmth among royal enthusiasts. The image, part of their private collection, offers a glimpse into the historic ceremony held at Westminster Abbey in April 2011.

’13 years ago today’

Prince William returned to public duties earlier this month after a long absence over amid Kate’s preventative chemotherapy for cancer. In a video message last month, Kate, said tests taken following major abdominal surgery she underwent in January had uncovered cancer, something she described as a “huge shock”.

William was earlier absent from official engagements since then as the couple and their three young children come to terms with the impact of the news. Last week, the royal couple thanked the public for their messages which had been sent to mark the sixth birthday of their youngest son Louis on Tuesday. The couple also issued a picture of Louis on social media to mark the occasion, showing a close-up image of the beaming young prince.
