Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called the Interim Budget 2024-25 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman “inclusive” and “innovative” adding that it will make the common man’s life easier.

The interim budget is a temporary financial plan presented by the government when it doesn’t have the time or mandate to present a full budget.

The key highlights of the Interim Budget 2024-25 include “no changes” to the taxation system — both direct and indirect — including import duties.

“Income-tax remission scheme will provide relief to 1 crore people from the middle class. In this budget, important decisions have been taken for the farmers,” PM Modi said while addressing the nation.

The prime minister further said the Interim Budget 2024-25 has “confidence of continuity” and “guaranty to strengthen the foundation of 2047”.

Here’s What PM Modi Said on Interim Budget 2024-25-

  • This budget carries the guarantee of strengthening the foundation of Viksit Bharat by 2047, the prime minister said.
  • He emphasised the government’s efforts to empower the poor and middle class by creating new opportunities for them in this budget. “To empower, emphasis has been given to new sources of income for the poor and middle class. For the poor in villages and cities, we have made more than 4 crore houses. Now we aim to make more than 2 crore more houses under the scheme,” PM Modi noted.
  • This budget has provision for 40000 bogies of Vande Bharat standards to be clubbed in normal trains, he added.
  • PM Modi also highlighted two decisions taken in the budget, saying that a fund of Rs 1 lakh crore has been announced for research and innovation.
  • Emphasising the empowerment of women, PM Modi said, “Our goal was to make 2 crore ‘Lakhpatis’ among women. Now, this goal has been increased to make 3 crore Lakhpatis.”
  • The Prime Minister further hailed the Ayushman Bharat Yojana for its significant assistance to the poor, extending its benefits to Anganwadi and ASHA workers.
