Success stories always make for an interesting read and the story of Rudradev Mallik from Bhadrak village of Odisha who left his studies midway to start his startup is a similar tale. During the peak of the global COVID-19 pandemic, he saw an opportunity and ventured into the fisheries business.

At the age of 19, Rudradev decided to drop out of his BCA studies to pursue his startup. He was working against all odds because most of his peers thought he was wasting away his life by giving up on his education.

However, Rudradev had made up his mind to do something of his own. He decided to tap the market and see what products or services needed to put out there. Recognising the issue of water pollution caused by activities like bathing cows and buffaloes in ponds, as well as recreational activities, he began manufacturing aeration machines through his startup company to increase oxygen levels and clean the water. This decision significantly boosted his income, which reached Rs 1.05 crore annually. His startup, named DAPL Agri Products, has been instrumental in his success.

Rudradev Mallik completed his schooling at Brahmapur High School in Bhadrak, Odisha. He then enrolled in a BCA course at Bhadrak Autonomous College, also in Odisha. During his second year of BCA, when classes shifted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic and exams were approaching, he decided that online studies were not for him. He also faced hurdles attending classes online and thus ultimately decided to quit his BCA course altogether. He decided to leave his studies and embark on his entrepreneurial journey.

With just Rs 20,000 in hand, Rudradev Mallik launched his business, DAPL Agri Products. Initially starting with producing aeration machines, the company today produces liquid organic bio-fertilisers. Today, his company boasts an annual turnover of Rs 1.05 crore and operates across 10 states.
