The Congress compared Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to a “chameleon”, and said the people of the state will never forgive him for his “betrayal”

Political fervour is on the rise in Bihar, Nitish Kumar submitted his resignation to Governor Rajendra V Arlekar as Mahagathbandhan Chief Minister on Sunday morning. The governor accepted Kumar’s resignation and asked him to continue as caretaker CM till a new government is formed.

According to sources, the new state government, with the support of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), would be sworn in at 5 pm today. Meanwhile, BJP Chief JP Nadda is scheduled to reach Patna at 3 pm.

This marks the JD(U) chief’s fifth flip-flop in the last decade as the party is all set for the formation of a new government, with the BJP’s support, which is “expected by the evening” in JP Nadda’s presence.

Bihar Political Drama: Congress Lashes Out At Nitish

The Congress on Sunday compared Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to a “chameleon”, and said the people of the state will never forgive him for his “betrayal”.

Party president Mallikarjun Kharge said they already knew about Kumar’s decision to leave the alliance but had not said anything to help keep the INDIA bloc together.

“There are many people like ‘Aaya Ram-Gaya Ram’ in the country. Earlier he and I were fighting together. When I talked to Lalu ji and Tejashwi ji, they also said that Nitish is going,” Kharge said.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh played down Nitish Kumar’s exit and said it would have no impact on the outcome of Gandhi’s Nyay Yatra.

“It’s no surprise. Nitish Kumar Ji is an experienced politician. He is known to change his political colour and gives a tough fight to a chameleon. People of Bihar are going to respond to him and people in Delhi are running him,” Ramesh said.
