The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) recently announced the results of the Combined State/Senior Superintendent Service (PCS) exam, bringing to light several success stories. Among the accomplished candidates is Nidhi, a resident of a small village in Amroha district, UP, who made her mark by securing the position of SDM (Deputy Collector) in her very first attempt.

Nidhi, the daughter of Veerpal Singh and Pragati from Majra Nayagaon in Gram Panchayat Tarauli, has become a source of pride for her family and community. Her father, a farmer, and her mother, an Anganwadi worker, provided unwavering support throughout her academic journey. Nidhi’s educational roots trace back to her primary school in Tarauli Gram Panchayat, where she studied till Class 5.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge and a determination to overcome resource limitations in her village, Nidhi pursued further studies at Kasturba Gandhi Residential School in Rahrai village, Jyotiba Phule Nagar district, UP, from Class 6 to 8. Her educational journey continued at Shiksha Bharti Inter College, Rahara, for her 10th-grade studies, and later at Bihari Singh Girls Inter College, Rahara, for Class 12. In 2021, Nidhi earned a B.Sc. from Hindu College Moradabad.

Post her graduation, Nidhi moved to Delhi to start her civil services preparation journey. Her dedication and hard work bore fruit as she attempted the UPPSC PCS exam, securing the 39th rank and clinching the coveted post of SDM.

Nidhi’s success story is particularly noteworthy in the context of the significant rise in the number of selected women candidates in the PCS-2023 exam, as reported by Hindustan Times. Out of the 251 positions, a remarkable 84 women have been selected, marking a historic achievement for women candidates in the last 11 years of the PCS examination.
