Netflix has released three new Grand Theft Auto games under the GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, including the Grand Theft Auto III, GTA Vice City, and GTA San Andreas. Netflix says that these three titles have been updated for mobile.
The three games are available to download for Netflix subscribers on Android and iOS through Google Play Store and App Store.The games will also be available in the Netflix mobile app for subscribers. These three games are also available separately, with Rockstar listed as the publisher. However, one has to pay for them.
Netflix released 86 games till now, with more in the tow
Since 2021, Netflix has released a total of 86 years, with some due for release this year, including the 40 it has released already. Aside from the licensed titles, Netflix also introduced two in-house titles – Oxenfree II: Lost Signals and Netflix Stories: Love is Blind. The streaming giant also spun off more of its originals – Stranger Things, Vikings, Love Is Blind, Narcos, and The Queen’s Gambit – into video games.
Netflix says that there are currently 90 more games under development. One of the games in the works is set in the world of Squid Games, where players can participate in various games featured in the show and compete against each other. Another collaboration with Super Evil Megacorp is the Rebel Moon video game. The Money Heist: Ultimate Choice, which was announced last month at the Geeked Week, is set to be released in January of next year.
Netflix is adding new games to its library next year. Sonic Mania Plus, FashionVerse, and Game Dev Tycoon are among the games. Sonic Mania Plus features classic zones with a new twist, new bosses, and characters and will be exclusively available on mobile. FashionVerse is a fashion simulation game, while Game Dev Tycoon lets players develop games based on their favorite movies and shows. Other games include Hades, Chicken Run: Eggstraction, and Netflix Stories: Virgin River.
The streaming platform has made a huge investment in video games, spending almost a billion dollars setting up its own gaming department. As part of this initiative, the company has acquired studios and hired several game executives to collaborate with its existing team of 400 staff members on the development of a major AAA title.
