The twin sisters scored the exact same marks in their Class XII PUC examinations (571/600), the results of which were declared on Wednesday.

Twin sisters Chukki and Ibbani Chandra KV from Karnataka’s Hassan may have been born just two minutes apart, but lady luck had a wonderful way of getting them to twin when it came to their examination results. In what could be called a rarest of rare phenomenon, the twin sisters scored the exact same marks in their Class XII PUC examinations (571/600), the results of which were declared on Wednesday.

But that’s not it. Two years ago, too, they had scored identical marks in their tenth (SSLC) examinations (620/625). “It was pure coincidence. Even we do not know how we got the same marks,” said Chukki, who is elder by a couple of minutes. “We both were expecting 97 percent plus marks, a bit more than what we got. But what was most exciting is that we both got the exact same percentage,” she said.

Chukki told News18, that they were now preparing for their NEET examination. The sisters want to either opt for medicine or engineering to pursue their education, and both have the same ambition. The sisters share common interests in music, dance and sports.

The twins had taken up the science stream at the NDRK PU College in Hassan. When asked as to what line in the field of medicine or engineering they were interested in, Chukki replied, “I have not decided anything yet. We both know that we have to clear the NEET examination and our energies are focused on it.”

Ibbani, the equally shy younger twin, when asked whether the twin sisters competed with each other, “I would be the happiest if my sister got more marks than me, and the same with me. We don’t compete,” she said.

Vinod Chandra, their father was himself quite surprised with this coincidence, but is extremely proud of his daughters’ performances. He pointed out how the final score of the twins may have been identical, but their marks in different subjects varied. “Ibbani scored better in languages than her sister while both of them a variation of one to two marks in the other science subjects,” he said.

“They have worked hard for their examination, though we know they had expected two to three percent more marks. They do things together, enjoy each other’s company, are studious but you cannot call them bookworms,” said Chandra with a smile.
