Avinash Kumar from Jamshedpur, has achieved a significant milestone by securing the All India 56th rank in the Combined Defense Service (CDS) examination at the age of just 23.

Avinash Kumar, hailing from Jamshedpur, the famed Iron City of Jharkhand, has achieved a remarkable feat by securing the All India 56th rank in the Combined Defense Service (CDS) examination at 23.

This achievement marks Avinash’s fourth attempt at the exam, showcasing his unwavering determination and dedication. Before this, he had also appeared for the NDA exam, although he fell short during the group discussion stage. Undeterred by setbacks, Avinash persevered and is now on the cusp of realising his dream of serving in the Indian Army as a lieutenant.

In an interview with Local 18, Avinash shared insights into his upbringing, emphasising his humble roots in a simple and common family. His father, Krishna Kumar Singh, works in a private company, while his mother, Rekha, has been instrumental in supporting Avinash’s education by running a beauty parlour.

A bright academic record underpins Avinash’s journey, having scored an impressive 94.4 per cent in both his 10th and 12th-grade examinations from Rajendra Vidyalaya and DAV Bistupur, respectively. He further pursued his education at Delhi’s prestigious Hindu College for his graduation.

Reflecting on his journey, Avinash revealed that his initial attempt at the NDA exam was at the behest of his father. Although he cleared the written test, he fell short during the SSB round. However, the experience at SSB Allahabad ignited his passion for a career in the armed forces, motivating him to pursue the Combined Defense Service (CDS) exam. Remarkably, Avinash achieved this feat through self-study, without the aid of coaching.

Looking ahead, Avinash is poised to embark on an 18-month training journey at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun, paving the way for his appointment as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army. He encourages fellow youth to pursue their passions ardently, urging them to garner parental support and utilise social media positively to achieve their aspirations.
