Apple has made the iPhone 15 Pro Max easier to repair but even then people are not advised to try and fix the iPhone at home. The latest iPhone Pro Max was put through the rigorous iFixit teardown recently and it seems the company has made some welcome changes which makes it easier to fix the back panel of the new iPhone.

The report says that the iPhone 15 Pro Max glass panel at the back can be removed without needing to remove the display first. This is a big change because the iPhone 14 Pro Max had made it hard to change the panel without removing the screen, which has now been tweaked after the internal components of the iPhone 15 Pro Max have been overhauled.

Having said that, Apple continues to put software limitations on particular components which makes it hard to repair or replace the parts from third-party repair centres. Not making these changes means the good work done with regard to the back panel change doesn’t help the iPhone 15 Pro Max get a higher repairability score. In fact, they earned the same score of 4 out of 10 as the iPhone 14 series which is a bummer.

Apple has put a tight leash on which components can work on the iPhones and that Configuration system tool is still a big part of the process, making it harder for the supposed easy-to-repair iPhone 15 Pro Max to be fixed at home. The 4/10 rating clearly means that iFixit does not recommend users to fix the iPhone themselves.

It does help that you can get the glass panel at the back changed easily but that is a whole different issue this year as multiple drop tests suggest people might have to visit the Apple centre multiple times to get their panel fixed or replaced.

We have come across videos where the iPhone 15 Pro Max panel is getting scratched easily, and even breaking up in some cases. Apple has cut down the price of changing the panel this year and it is likely that the company foresees people coming often to get their iPhones repaired.
