Apple now lets you film spatial videos on the iPhone 15 Pro models once you update to iOS 17.2. Here’s how to get started with the process.
iOS 17.2 is finally out, and with it, Apple has brought the ability to record spatial videos to the latest iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. These Spatial videos are meant to be played back in the Vision Pro headset once it launches next year.
How to Capture Spatial Video on iPhone 15 Pro?
It must be noted that spatial video capture isn’t enabled by default on the iPhone 15 Pro; to do so, you need to head to Settings > Camera > Formats, and then look for Spatial Video for Apple Vision Pro, and toggle it on.
Once you do this, you can head to the camera app, turn your phone in a landscape orientation, open video mode, and then tap on the spatial video icon in the bottom left corner. That’s it! Your iPhone 15 Pro should be able to record Spatial videos now.
It must be noted that these videos are shot in 1080p at 30fps and use both the wide and ultra-wide sensors simultaneously to record these videos. They are saved as a single file.
How to Watch Spatial Videos?
Once you capture a spatial video, you can watch it on any iPhone or device like the Mac as a regular 2D video. But, the real use case is only possible with the Vision Pro headset once it’s launched. Apple has made the feature already available to users so that they can have spatial video memories ready to go once they get their hands on the headset.
That said, Apple is yet to announce a release date for the Vision Pro headset, but we do know that it is coming sometime next year, but only in the US initially.
