The network of Indian Railways is huge and has several departments. Every year the board recruits people for various posts in which a large number of youth apply. Now, the board has announced a notification for the Railway Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) position.

It is expected that around 11,000 vacancies will be available for Railways TTE recruitment in 2023. The selection process will include a written test, medical examination and document verification.

The full form of TTE is Traveling Ticket Examiner who is responsible for checking tickets on trains. Apart from TTE, there is also a post of Ticket Collector (TC) in Railways who checks tickets at railway stations. The job of TTE is considered to be a respectable position.

Who can apply for the position of TTE?

The board has set an age limit for individuals to become a TTE in Railways. As per the notification, the age of the candidate applying should be between 18 to 30 years. There is age relaxation for those candidates belonging to the reserved category. Also, candidates must be 12th pass with at least 50 per cent score.

How much salary can a candidate expect?

After securing the job of TTE in the Indian Railways, the candidate gets various types of facilities and perks along with the salary. The salary of TTE in Indian Railways ranges between Rs 9,400 to Rs 35,000. Apart from this, the candidate is given grade pay of Rs 1900, daily allowance and House Rent Allowance along with other facilities. All the family members of the TTE also get the facility of travelling for free on the train.

To become a TTE, one has to apply for the examination and give a written examination. 150 questions are asked in this where questions generally range from general knowledge, reasoning, mathematics and other subjects. For better preparation for the examination, it is good to refer to last year’s paper and attempt to solve it. One can also refer to books which can help in preparing for the test. Only after qualifying for the written examination, the physical fitness test of the candidate is carried out by the Railways.
