The boyfriend of an Israeli woman who has gone missing after attending the music fest stormed by Hamas says he regrets his decision to skip the ill-fated rave near Gaza at the last minute. “I feel like I needed to go and be there with her. Maybe I could have done something different,” Ohad Malul told the New York Post.

“It’s killing me inside that I am not with her,” said Malul, who is the boyfriend of 27-year-old economics student Shani Kupervaser. “We don’t know if she is alive, dead or if she is missing. We don’t know if she is kidnapped because nobody told us,” he said.

Malul’s girlfriend has not been seen or heard from since she fled the event in the Negev Desert near Gaza which was attacked by Hamas with grenades and gunfire. Terrorists came across the border from Gaza and raided the event Saturday, killing at least 260 attendees and dozens more.

Video footage circulating on social media shows the gunmen descending in paragliders on the gathering in the Negev Desert. Other social media footage shows some of those taken captive from the party being led away by jubilant gunmen.

Kupervaser went to the desert festival with friends, but Malul did not. “She said ‘I will come back, I won’t go for long…Everything is going to be OK’,” he said. The last Malul heard from Kupervaser was a message saying that she saw rockets overhead.

Kupervaser reportedly fled with three friends in a car, heading towards her home in Be’er Sheva, but they came under gunfire and abandoned the vehicle to run into a roadside bomb shelter where people directed those fleeing to take cover. “They took 30 people inside and terrorists started throwing grenades inside it,” said Malul, based on info from their friends who made it out alive.

With the war running into the fifth day, Malul said his girlfriend was not on any of the lists of the dead shared by authorities and hadn’t been found at any hospitals. “I just hope that she is alive, that’s it. Just the hope,” Malul told The Post. “If they take her from me, my heart is going to break totally.”
