A 36-year-old woman, Chaithanya Madhagani from Hyderabad was found murdered in Australia. She was staying with her husband and son in Australia. Her body was found in a wheelie bin on the side of a road in Buckley on Saturday, according to reports.

According to a PTI report, Chaithanya was allegedly killed by her husband, who flew to Hyderabad following the incident and handed over their child to her parents.

According to reports, Chaithanya and her husband Ashok Raj Varikuppala, along with their son had settled in Point Cook, Australia, after becoming Australian citizens.

An investigation by the local authorities into the incident is underway.

Another young Indian-Australian woman died recently while trekking at the famous Yanbacoochie Falls in Lamington National Park. The incident occurred when Ujwala Vemuru, a recent medicine graduate, was hiking with friends last Saturday.

Ujwala, who graduated from Gold Coast’s Bond University with a Bachelor of Medical Studies and a Doctor of Medicine last year, attempted to retrieve her camera tripod, which had accidentally fallen over a ledge during hiking. In the process, she slipped and fell 20 meters, succumbing to her injuries at the scene despite efforts by off-duty doctors present in the vicinity.

In July 2023, an Indian-origin man pleaded guilty to killing his former girlfriend after she rejected him, by tying her with cable wires and burying her alive in Australia.

The accused, 22-year-old Tarikjot Singh murdered 21-year-old Jasmeen Kaur, who was a nursing student.

According to the South Australian Supreme Court, Singh had killed her because she rejected him and had pre-planned the killing before abducting her from her workplace in March 2021, Guardian reported.
