The Student Credit Card scheme will prove to be a major boost for education.

Students from Bihar, who are looking forward to becoming technicians, are now no longer required to take an educational loan to pay their fees for the Industrial Training Institutes. Similar provisions have been made for the candidates who aspire to become teachers by pursuing a Bachelor of Education course. The candidates who will commence their studies in the new academic session of 2024-25 can avail the benefit of the Bihar Student Credit Card scheme. This decision has been taken after the departmental review conducted in August 2023. The Student Credit Card scheme will prove to be a major boost for the education of students, who hail from impoverished backgrounds. This scheme will also help the students who want to opt for their higher studies by pursuing BTech and the BEd courses. Bihar Student Credit Card scheme is a state-funded scheme for students in Bihar that helps financially deprived students pursue their higher education after class 12th.

Funds to be allotted under the Student Credit Card scheme:

Financial help of Rs 2.90 lakh will be provided to the students pursuing their BEd course. Maximum assistance of Rs 2 lakh will be given to candidates completing their BTech course from ITI. As per some reports, a contradictory fact has surfaced on social media regarding the help provided to students pursuing their BEd. Reportedly, it was circulated that students for this course can get financial assistance up to Rs 4 lakh with the help of the Student Credit Card scheme.

These reports, however, are not true. Ajay Kumar, an officer looking after the finance department in District Registration cum Counseling Center, Begusarai talked about this matter. He told Local 18 Bihar that if students want to get financial help for studying BEd, then the maximum assistance will be up to Rs 2 lakh 90 thousand only. On the other hand, the students trying to secure their admission to ITI will be assisted with Rs 2 lakh only. The financial help amount will be provided to the student twice in their 2-year courses. There is an opportunity for the students seeking assistance regarding ITI studies if they get themselves registered in the Planning and Development department. Then they can be enrolled in the institutes registered with the Labor Resources Department for ITI training.
