Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh responded to the legal notice sent to him and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday, while saying that they ‘have made no mistake’.

He also assured that the party will soon respond to the notices that were sent to them.

While addressing the media, Ramesh said, “I have read the legal notice sent by him. We have made no mistake. We will respond to the notice.”

On Friday, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari sent a legal notice to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and party general secretary Jairam Ramesh for sharing a “twisted, distorted” version of one of his interviews on the microblogging site X.

Gadkari alleged that the Congress shared a 19-second clip by “concealing the contextual intent and meaning” of his interview, adding that the “sinister act” was done with the sole intent to “fan and create confusion, sensation and disrepute” to him.

As per the notice sent by the BJP leader, “The interview has also been twisted, distorted and presented on your microblogging site ‘X’ wall by uploading the above video which is bereft and devoid of contextual meaning.”

Gadkari also claimed that the clip has resulted in “big reputation damage, defamation and great loss of credibility”.

According to an NDTV report, the “factually incorrect” video was an “intentional attempt” by the Congress leaders to “insult and demean” him, “coupled with the intent to provoke members of the BJP to develop ideological rift”, Gadkari added.

In the video shared by the Congress, Nitin Gadkari was heard saying, “Villages, poor, labourers and farmers are unhappy…The villages do not have good roads, there is no water to drink, there are no good hospitals, there are no good schools”.
