Haiti’s embattled Prime Minister has agreed to step down once a transition council and temporary replacement have been appointed. Caribbean nations secured Ariel Henry’s resignation at an emergency meeting of CARICOM in Jamaica on March 11. Caribbean leaders met behind closed doors for several hours to discuss how to halt Haiti’s spiralling violence. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken attended the meeting in Jamaica along with senior officials from Brazil, Canada, France and Mexico. Henry’s resignation comes hours after gang leader Jimmy Cherizier “Barbecue” threatened hotel owners who were “hiding politicians.” Watch the video to find out more.
