Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s YouTube Video Watching Speed Revealed | – Times of India

Google CEO Sundar Pichai recently shared which website he visits when he starts his day and now he has revealed how he watches YouTube, the video streaming platform that is owned by Google. It’s not about the platform on which he runs the app, it is the speed on which he sees videos.
Famous YouTuber Marques Brownlee, popularly known as MKBHD, recently posted a poll on X (formerly Twitter) asking his followers at what speed they normally watch YouTube videos.He gave four options: 1x (normal speed), 1.25x, 1.5x and 2x (I’m a psycho). At the time of writing, about 192,435 votes were polled but Pichai reposted the poll sharing his preference.

“very curious to see, I normally do 1x for things I enjoy and/or need to process deeply but otherwise do go faster,” Pichai said in a post on X.

Apart from above said speeds, YouTube also allows people to watch videos in 0.25, 0.5 and 0.75 speeds.
How users engage with video playback speeds on YouTube
Back in 2022, YouTube released a finding in which it claimed that while most people watch on the default speed, there is a section of people that chooses to watch videos a little bit faster. It claimed that the feature was used to speed up content more than 85% of the time.
“Apart from normal, 1.5x is used the most often, followed by 2x as a close second and 1.25x at third. And for the perfectionists who like custom speeds, 1.1x was the most used speed. Just a little faster, but not too much!” the company said.
On living room devices like Smart TVs and gaming consoles, users spent the longest time watching YouTube at normal speed, followed by 1.25x speed. Viewers on youtube.com spent the longest time watching videos at 2x speed and on mobile devices, both iOS and Android users most often used 1.5x playback speed, it previously said.
