Former Union minister Birender Singh on Monday resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the Lok Sabha elections and is likely to join the Congress.

Singh severed his nearly four decades of ties with Congress in 2014 for the BJP. His son and Hisar BJP MP Brijendra Singh has recently quit the BJP and joined Congress party.
