Speaking at a press conference, Cristiano stated how his celebrations were considered run-of-the-mill in Europe, but now that he is aware, he shall not indulge in them again in Saudi.

Even the best of us make mistakes. Al Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo sure realized the same as well, as the talisman Portuguese finally came out and talked about his suspension for indulging in ‘obscene gestures’, reiterating his commitment to being the best version of himself.

Last week, Ronaldo was banned for one game for making allegedly obscene gestures towards Al Shadab fans after Al Nassr’s 3-2 win.

After the game had concluded, the Al Shadab crowd roared with chants of “Messi, Messi” at Ronaldo, to which the Portuguese cupped his ear and went on to make the gesture of continually pumping his hand in front of his pelvic area towards the opposition fans.

The incident was not caught on television cameras, but multiple spectators had shot footage of the same from the stands and took to social media to share the same.

As repercussions for his actions, it was decided that Ronaldo had violated Article 57-1 of the Disciplinary and Ethics Regulations, which reads: “Any person who causes public excitement by action, word, or gesture during any match shall be suspended for one match, and shall be punished with a fine of 10,000 riyals.”

Speaking at a press conference, Cristiano stated how his celebrations were considered run-of-the-mill in Europe, but now that he is aware, he shall not indulge in them again in Saudi.

‘I will always respect the cultures of all countries, as I have respected to this day, but not always what people see is reality,” said Ronaldo in a press conference.

‘As I said and I will say again, it is obvious that I will not do it again in this country, but in Europe, it is very normal.

‘Sometimes the passion and excitement of the game leads us to make some mistakes.’

Ronaldo’s Al Nassr have enough disappointment to deal with already, following their elimination from the AFC Champions League by Qatar side Al Ain who dealt them a crushing defeat after penalties in a 4-4 agg tie game.

Ronaldo himself has a sub-par game at best, scoring one to tie the fixture up, but at the same proving to be sloppy in front of goal as he missed a sitter earlier in the game.

But, nowadays it seems like it is more about his actions off the pitch that land him the limelight than his on it.

This was not the first time that the Portuguese superstar made headlines with his actions. In April of last year, a similar incident transpired when the Portuguese forward appeared to grab his genitals whilst walking towards the dugout after a Saudi Pro League encounter against Al Hilal, which Al Nassr lost 2-0.
