Elon Musk-owned X platform will soon have to its own smart TV app that will show you videos on the big screen. The update about the TV app will shared by Linda Yaccarino, CEO, X this week. The dedicated TV will host videos that will be streaming in high-res definition, she adds. The teaser video of the app’s interface suggests X could offer a UI similar to YouTube which makes it easier for people to use.

“Soon we’ll bring real-time, engaging content to your smart TVs with the X TV App. This will be your go-to companion for a high-quality, immersive entertainment experience on a larger screen,” said the X CEO said in a post.

Users can expect trending video algorithm, AI-powered topics, cross-device experience, enhanced video search, effortless casting, and wide availability (coming soon to most smart TVs). “We’ll keep you updated. And of course please share your ideas. We build X for our community,” she adds.

X is definitely changing the paradigm of a social media app, and Musk is clearly focused on making it an everything app. Having a smart TV app not only increases its reach but also brings new customers to the platform. The video streaming service will definitely appeal to many but it remains to be seen how Musk and Co. plan to populate the content on the platform and where it sources the content.

Musk is looking to remove bots from X with his plans to charge to new X users in the near future. He has already revised the X Premium plans, which also includes the Premium+ tier with access to the in-house Grok AI chatbot for select paid subscribers.
