Donald Trump said he may not use the Resolute Desk if he is reelected and claimed Biden defecated on the desk.
Former US President Donald Trump at a fundraiser event in Florida lamented that people were not immigrating to the United States from “nice” countries “like Denmark” and claimed his successor Joe Biden defecated on a desk which has been used by almost all US presidents in the Oval Office, The New York Times said in a report.
“These are people coming in from prisons and jails. They’re coming in from just unbelievable places and countries, countries that are a disaster,” Trump said, in a bid to capitalise on the US border and immigrant crisis which has become a headache for the Biden administration.
“And when I said, you know, Why can’t we allow people to come in from nice countries, I’m trying to be nice. Nice countries, you know like Denmark, Switzerland? Do we have any people coming in from Denmark? How about Switzerland? How about Norway?” Trump told guests gathered at a fundraiser in Miami hosted by billionaire financier John Paulson.

Campaign fundraisers are usually private events but according to an attendee who provided a readout of Trump’s remarks to The New York Times, the former president claimed that Biden defecated at the Resolute Desk.
Trump said bad decisions were made around the Resolute Desk, a desk used by nearly every president, with the notable exceptions being Presidents Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Gerald R. Ford, according to the The White House Historical Association.
“The Resolute Desk is beautiful. Ronald Reagan used it, others used it,” Trump said, speaking of the desk gifted to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880 by British Queen Victoria. The desk is made from the oak timbers of the British ship HMS Resolute, a ship which was part of a British arctic expedition to search for explorer Sir John Franklin in 1852.
“And he’s using it. I might not use it the next time. It’s been soiled. And I mean that literally, which is sad,” Trump said in a manner, which according to the person mentioned above, exuded disgust.
The person then said that attendees laughed as they interpreted the remark as Donald Trump saying Joe Biden has defecated on the desk.
The desk has also been the subject of controversies earlier as well. Republicans and Democrats went head-to-head when the former criticised the rivals when pictures surfaced of former US president Barack Obama in an informal pose, with his foot on top of the desk in 2010 and 2013.
Democrats then responded by sharing photos of former US president George W. Bush with his feet atop the desk, according to reports by the Time magazine.
Donald Trump was in the news during his presidency after he used the button to order a Coke while speaking to a journalist of UK-based newspaper Financial Times.
