Real Madrid midfielder Brahim Diaz paid a heart-warming tribute to his teammate Jude Bellingham after scoring against RB Leipzig in the Champions League. As European football returned this week, Real Madrid took on RB Leipzig in the round of 16 tie on Wednesday. Bellingham did not take part in the game due to an ankle injury, paving the way for Diaz’s inclusion in the game.

The Spaniard did not disappoint as he danced past three RB Leipzig players before sending a perfect curler inside the far post early in the second half. After scoring, Diaz ran towards the sidelines and imitated Bellingham’s famous arms-outstretched goal celebration.

Real Madrid’s away tie at the Red Bull Arena Leipzig in the round of 16 saw them beat the hosts 1-0. Having scored the only goal of the fixture, Diaz spoke about his finish once the match was over. He said, “ I’m intuitive…I saw Vini (Vinicius Junior) and wanted to give it to him, but in the end, I took the shot…It was a nice goal”. He later told Movistar about how much he loves and admires Bellingham.

As per ESPN, he said, “I love [Bellingham]…From the first moment, we’ve got on really well”. Diaz also explained how he was helping Bellingham with the Spanish language. He then described his teammate as a world-class player and a great person.

Diaz was quite vocal about the fact that Real Madrid certainly did not have the best lineup against RB Leipzig due to multiple injuries in the squad. However, it could not deter Real Madrid from proving their mettle on the pitch.

Diaz told Movistar, as per ESPN, “Despite the absences of Jude, who we missed, and of [Antonio] Rudiger, and all those [players] who are out injured for a long time, we keep showing that we’re a great team, that we’re Real Madrid.”

Diaz had a slow start at Real Madrid since his arrival from Italian side AC Milan. Over time, the Spaniard has proved himself to be quite dependable, scoring eight goals across all competitions for the Spanish giants.

Speaking of Jude Bellingham, the English midfielder is currently recovering from a sprained ankle. He sustained the injury in Real Madrid’s 4-0 win over Girona and is expected to be out of action for around three weeks.
