The Bihar Public Service Commission launched the application process for the third phase of teacher recruitment starting on February 10. Interested candidates can submit applications till February 23, with an option for late submissions until February 25 with an additional fee. The third phase teacher recruitment notice doesn’t list any job openings. Around 87,000 vacant teaching positions are expected to be filled through this recruitment.

Eligibility Criteria

Teachers applying for positions in schools for grades 1 to 5 under the Education Department and SC, ST Welfare Department should pass either CTET Paper-1 or Bihar TET Paper-1.

Candidates interested in teaching middle school classes from grades 6 to 8 must have cleared CTET Paper-2 or Bihar TET Paper-2.

Passing STET Paper-1 is a requirement for teaching secondary classes 9-10, as well as classes 6 10 in SC, ST department schools, and special schools for grades 9-10.

Aspiring teachers for classes 11 and 12 must have passed STET Paper 2.

Age Limit

Men and women from the backward/extremely backward class and unreserved women must be within 40 years of age. Women and men from the SC and ST categories should be within 42 years of age.

Bihar is introducing a new reservation law for the third phase of teacher recruitment. Under this law, extremely backward class candidates will have 25 per cent reservation, the backward class will have 18 per cent, SC will have 20 per cent, ST will have two per cent and economically weak candidates will have 10 per cent reservation.

In Bihar, teachers can be recruited from any state. UP, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal, Punjab and Haryana teachers can also apply for the position.

Exam Pattern

There will be only one exam paper which will last for two and a half hours. The paper will consist of three parts: Language, General Studies and related subjects. The first part will have 30 questions worth 30 marks. The second part will have 40 questions worth 40 marks. While the third part contains 80 questions worth 80 marks. There is no negative marking in the exam.
