Harmilan finished second in the women’s 800m event with a timing of 2:03.75. Sable clocked 13:21.09 to edge past Dawit Fikadu Admasu of Bahrain.

Indian athlete Harmilan Bains on Wednesday added another silver medal to his credit in the ongoing Asian Games 2022 in Hangzhou, China. She finished second in the women’s 800m event with a timing of 2:03.75.

Meanwhile, Avinash Sable finished second in the men’s 5000m final to add a silver medal to his kitty after bagging a gold in the 3000m steeplechase. The Indian clocked 13:21.09 to edge past Dawit Fikadu Admasu of Bahrain to finish second. The latter’s compatriot, Birhanu Yemataw Balew took the gold with the best timing of 13:17.40.

Earlier, Sunil Kumar won India’s first Greco-Roman medal in 13 years at the Asian Games. He defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Atabek Azisbekov to win a bronze in the 87kg category

Sunil fought a strategic bout in which twice he defended well from ‘par terre position, denying his opponent a scoring opportunity from the ground position for a 2-1 win. He kept sliding in circles on his right, not letting Azisbekov get a grip to lift him.

It was Azisbekov, who got on board first with a passivity point in the first period. Sunil levelled the score on his contender’s passivity as a major part of the bronze play-off was move-less. The Indian also successfully challenged the referee’s two-point decision given in favour of Azisbekov, who had managed to push Sunil out but was not in control of the push-out move.
