Apple Watch Ultra 2 is the largest watch that Apple makes currently.

Apple’s flagship Apple Watch that’s going to launch in 2026 could pack a display that is 10% larger and switch to microLED from the current OLED panel.

Apple Watch Ultra 2 stands as Apple’s flagship Apple Watch, costing a whopping Rs 89,900 in India. This makes it more expensive than both the Apple Watch SE 2 and the latest Apple Watch Series 9, and rightfully so, thanks to the myriad extras, better battery life, and the choice of materials it brings to the table. And yes, it is also larger than the Series 9 (max 45mm) at 49mm. But what if the flagship Apple Watch got even larger in a future iteration?

Yes, that is exactly what Taiwanese research firm TrendForce is reporting. According to the report, the flagship Apple Watch that’s going to launch in 2026 could pack a display that is 10% larger and switch to microLED tech from the current OLED panel.

If this were to materialise, the new Apple Watch would measure in at 2.12 inches, compared to the 1.93 inches of the Apple Watch Ultra second-generation model that was launched in September this year alongside the iPhone 15 Pro models.

Moreover, TrendForce further notes that these larger panels could cost Apple $120, making it about 2 to 3 times more expensive than the current OLED panels. Two different suppliers are expected to create these panels for Apple—German LED company ams OSRAM and LG Display.

Apple has been said to be working on its microLED tech for quite some time now, which is said to be efficient and provide even more advantages compared to OLED panels of today. But so far, we are yet to see Apple release a device with the same.

In related news, Apple is reportedly expected to revamp its entire iPad lineup in 2024, with updates expected in from of new iPad Pro models with OLED screens, a new iPad Air, and more.
