Anush Agarwalla won a historic bronze medal for India in Equestrian individual dressage event, and performed to the music of ‘Jai Ho’ afterwards

India’s Anush Agarwalla won a historic bronze medal at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou. Anush secured a first-ever medal in the category for India, finishing third in the Equestrian individual dressage event.

Anush won the bronze medal on Thursday with a score of 73.030, winning his second medal at the 19th Asian Games.

Earlier, he had won the gold medal in the dressage team event, a historic medal after a wait of 41 years, as he teamed up with the likes of Hriday Vipul Chheda, Divyakriti Singh and Sudipti Hajela.

Hriday Vipul also qualified for the final, he had topped the qualifying round on Wednesday but he was eliminated after blood from spotted from his horse’s legs.

Bin Mahamad Fathil Mohd Qabil Ambak of Malaysia won the gold with a total score of 75.780, while Jacqueline Wing Ying Siu of Hong Kong bagged the silver scoring 73.450.

Anush Agarwalla meanwhile celebrated his bronze medal as he rode his horse with the song ‘Jai Ho’ from Slumdog Millionaire playing in the background.

A video of Anush’s brief performance with his horse has gone viral on social media.

Anush, with his horse Etro rewrote the history books, the 23-year-old from Kolkata helped take India’s medal tally in Hangzhou to 25, with six gold, eight silver and 11 bronze medals.
