70% Working Women Believe Work-life Balance Is Their Biggest Challenge: Survey – News18

International Women’s Day is observed on March 8 annually and is significant for various reasons. It is a day dedicated to acknowledging and celebrating the accomplishments of women across diverse fields. It also serves as a platform to raise awareness about gender inequality, advocate for equal rights, address women’s challenges and inspire positive change. International Women’s Day has evolved into a globally significant event, impacting women in both developed and developing nations. As the world talks about women’s empowerment today, a recent study highlighted the biggest challenge a woman faces.

Edtech startup Hero Vired surveyed working women. It has been found that balance between work and personal life is the biggest obstacle for women to progress in their careers. According to the survey, 70 per cent of women believe that balancing work and life remains a big challenge for them.

The report underscores the difficulties encountered by women re-entering the workforce after a break. Notable obstacles include a sense of disconnect from technological advancements, apprehensions regarding skill depreciation and challenges in identifying fitting job opportunities. Despite their eagerness to reintegrate and advance in their careers, these hurdles frequently impede women from fully maximizing their potential in the workplace.

According to the survey, about 77 per cent of the participants think that the representation of women in leadership positions has increased compared to previous years. The report titled ‘Women in Modern Workplaces in India’ has been prepared based on a survey conducted among two lakh women. 59 per cent of respondents believe that women have equal opportunities as men in today’s workforce, reflecting the changing dynamics towards workplace equality. 78 per cent of respondents acknowledged the benefits of having more women in leadership positions.

Despite this, continued efforts are needed to foster a supportive environment for female employees, remove biases, and provide opportunities for professional growth.
