The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), India’s apex trade body, recently said that it is expecting businesses to earn a whopping Rs 4.25 lakh crore this wedding season. It would be the highest ever earning till now. It has been said that the business will be earned in just 23 days of this year’s Indian wedding season.

CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal, on X, informed that nearly 3.5 million weddings are scheduled to generate an impressive Rs 4.25 lakh crore in purchases and services between November 23 and December 15.

CAIT Secretary General Khandelwal tweeted, “Wedding season first spell from 23 November to 15 December is all set to bring cheers to the trading community. @CAITIndia expects a biz of about Rs 4.25 lakh crore in wedding trade this year. About 35 lakh weddings are estimated to be solemnised during this period in #Bharat,” he added.

On the other hand, IPO India said the average wedding expense in India, this year, is estimated to be Rs 5 lakh. It added that the most popular wedding destinations will be Goa, Jaipur, Kerala and Shimla. “The most popular wedding trends in India include destination weddings, themed weddings, and eco-friendly weddings,” IPO India added.

CAIT, in its statement, also highlighted that around six lakh weddings will take place with an estimated expense of RS 3 lakh per wedding in the coming months whereas the budget range for other marriages will exceed up to as high as Rs 1 crore per wedding. Acharya Durgesh Tare, the Chairman of CAIT’s Spiritual and Vedic Knowledge Committee said, “November 23, 24, 27, 28, and 29 are auspicious dates for solemnising marriages, followed by December 3, 4, 7, 8, 9 and 15. The next phase of the wedding season will begin mid-January of 2024 and go on till July of that year.”

It is pertinent to note that around 32 lakh weddings took place last year with total expenses reaching up to Rs 3.75 lakh crore. The data suggests that around 3.5 lakh weddings will take place in Delhi itself, generating a business worth nearly Rs 1 lakh crore.
